There are many ways for you to get free help for your math courses at our college, so take advantage of this!
Your own teacher
The first person you should ask for help is of course your current teacher! Don’t be shy and ask, helping you is our main job! Depending on your teacher’s preferences, you can/should:
- ask in class and/or right afterwards
- during your teacher’s official office hours (come prepared with good questions to ask!)
- online, via your teacher’s preferred way of contact
Math Department Shared Office Hours
The math teachers at Champlain College St-Lambert have decided to open some of their office hours to all students of the same course they are teaching.
So, if you need extra help outside of the office hours of your own teacher, you can simply go to the office of another math teacher - as long as you keep the following in mind:
- Come prepared: Make sure you have a print-out or an electronic version of the problem you need help with, and show what you have attempted already.
- Be polite: We do this as an extra service to you!
- Our own students have priority: In the rare cases that several students show up at once at the office hours, the students from a teacher’s actual course sections always have priority.

Math Help Centre
There are free drop-in tutorials (usually held by hired alumni students) available in the Math Help Centre, on the second floor of the library. Check the schedule on the door, and simply show up! Be aware that it’s first-come first-served, so there can sometimes be a crowd (especially before exams) - show up early!
Individual Tutors via the Learning Center
You can sign up for free individual, weekly 1-on-1 tutoring sessions with a student tutor, via the Learning Center’s tutoring website at https://clctutoring.ca.
Note that there is a limited amount of these tutoring sessions available, so it’s best to sign up as early as possible in the semester.
Extra Tutoring for SAC students
The math department holds extra drop-in tutorials for students registered with the SAC. Please contact the SAC for details.
